FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
How do I replace a part (battery, wheel, innertube, control module, throttle, etc) on my Razor e100/e125/e150?
Please review your owner's manual, or
visit our section with installation guides.
I have an E100 electric scooter and it won't move when I press the accelerator trigger. What should I do?
You must kick start the scooter to 3mph in order for the motor to engage. This is a safety feature that helps keep the relatively small motor on the E100 from overloading and overheating if started from a complete stop.
My electric scooter stops working when I go up a steep hill and then starts again on flat ground. What's going on?
The circuit breaker may be tripping and shutting the power off. The breaker is an important safety feature to prevent the motor from overloading. Electric scooters do not have unlimited power to go up steep hills or to pull riders heavier than the rated limit. When overload conditions occur, the breaker will automatically trip to prevent permanent damage.
I ran over a nail and need new tires. Where can I get a new set of tires?
We sell the
Razor e100 inner tubes or
Razor e100 tire and innertube combo set.
The steering tube on my electric scooter won't tighten enough to keep the handlebars aligned with the front wheel. How can I tighten it?
The wedge is probably loose. To tighten it, you need a 6mm Allen key. The bolt is located under the pivot mechanism and it must be tightened securely to prevent the handlebars from twisting. Refer to the owners manual page 5 to for details. If you dont have a copy of the manual, the
Razor e100/e200/e300 Manual is available as a PDF download.
Does the aluminum deck need any special care?
Nothing special. Minor scratching and abrasion marking should be considered normal wear and tear. You can clean it, as well as the rest of the scooter, by wiping with a damp towel and drying immediately.
What is the breaker button?
The breaker on the E100 is designed to trip when the current to the motor starts to exceed the motors rating. This cuts off power to the motor and stops the scooter from running. The breaker has a button located near the on/off switch that pops out slightly when tripped. To reset the breaker, simply wait a few seconds and press the breaker button back in place.
When I squeeze the hand brake on my electric scooter it doesn't seem to work well. Do I need new brakes?
Try adjusting the brake cable as described on pages 8 and 9 in the owners manual. If you dont have a copy of the manual, the
e100/e200/e300 Manual is available as a PDf download.
Why do I have two different wheels on my E100 electric scooter?
The E100 has a larger front wheel for improved steering.
What is the recommended inflation pressure for the e100 front tire?
The recommended tire pressure is printed on the tire sidewall. The pressure is indicated in both psi (English or imperial units) and bar (metric units).
Can I buy an additional set of Razor e100 batteries?
Yes. Please find e100 batteries in the following section:
Razor e100 Batteries.
The scooter box says my electric scooter should go up to 10 mph and it doesn't seem to go that fast. What's wrong?
The speed the scooter can attain is dependent on a number of factors: the weight of the rider, the state of charge, and ideal running conditions such as temperature and incline of the road. The scooter should attain the rated speed on flat ground if it has a full charge, the tires properly inflated, with an average weight rider, with no headwind and in a 70 F nominal temperature. Riders at or near the maximum weight limit, low tire pressure and temperatures below 50 F could all contribute to why the scooter might not attain the rated speed.
How long should I recharge the battery?
Four to five hours should be all that is required to fully recharge the battery. In most cases the charger will signal a full charge in less time than that. Do not over charge.
I lost my charger. Can I use another? Can I buy another one from you?
Use only the charger that came with your scooter. If you lose the charger you can purchase a replacement
e100 charger.
How can I lock my electric scooter so it doesn't get stolen on campus?
A bicycle style cable lock is the best option. Loop the cable between the fork and the front wheel of the scooter and lock the cable to something secure, such as a bike stand or fence post. Signposts may or may not be secure, so make sure they are anchored solidly into the ground.
Is my scooter legal for public roads?
The use of electric scooters both in terms of rider ages and areas where they may or may not be permitted is subject to regulation at the state or even local level; there is no one answer that applies to all possible locations. You should check with local authorities for details regarding the use of your electric scooter and, no matter where you use it, you should always follow local laws, exercise caution and use common sense when riding!
